The Back Bone of Phat Hair and Makeup

When I was 16yrs old I fell pregnant with my first child……. I was young, naïve, had no sense of direction and most certainly not prepared for what was coming my way. I had no goals, was living week by week, going out every weekend, partying till the early mornings and leaving my new born baby at home with my mum. Back then there was no such thing as the internet, mobile phones had only just come out, and I remember my very first phone too, it was a Lime Green Alcatel, everyone had them, all they could do was text and call but this was the new craze!

To support my New born baby and my new brick mobile phone, my mother told me to go and do something with my Life……

I didn’t know what I wanted to do? But what I do know is that when I was at high school I used to wag all my classes to go spend time in the Art class because I LOVED to Paint…. Mum knew this was my passion and she pushed me to go to Hairdressing School because this was down the same alley as painting. I wasn’t 100% convinced that this was what I wanted to do, but it was only a 8 month intro course and if I found myself wagging again… then I most definitely knew that this career wasn’t for me, so with a 10month old baby at home, and no income, off I went to Winters Hairdressing School.

I LOVED IT! And so did everyone else! I started making people feel good about themselves, putting smiles on peoples faces, this made me feel good about myself as well! I loved the reaction people got when they had their hair done, I loved it when I heard stories from their family and friends about how amazing their hair looked and how could they book in to get theirs done as well, this was fulfilling for me and made me want to give this to everyone!

Fast forward 18yrs, I now have a Stunning little Salon in Manukau, I am currently in the process of building our first home, I now have 3 children and a loving Husband whom I love very much. My first born that I mentioned earlier is almost about to turn 18yrs old! and I sat and thought to myself what can I do today to help young mums or any mum I should say, experience all the feelings that I witness on a daily basis in the salon.

If it wasn’t for the internet we all probably wouldn’t be where we are today? The internet directs the world in all sorts of directions, it perceives how the world should be, how we should look a certain way, what we should wear, it tells the time, the weather, the news, I don’t even watch TV anymore because you can find anything and everything on the internet?.... You most probably wouldn’t be reading this post of mine if it wasn’t for the internet?...

If you can relate to my story, I feel you sistah! if you feel like you just cant keep up with the Kardashians? I Hear you sistah! That is why I created this system...

If you haven’t guessed by now and you aren't already a regular client of ours, our Gold Goddess Makeup Artist “Breeze” was my Miracle baby at 16yrs old, she is in all our Marketing Images that we post.

She was the beginning of my Journey, and she is the reason Why……
